When President Boyd K. Packer and his family began to work with BYU's Religious Studies Center and Deseret Book to publish a book featuring his artwork, they came to Hales Creative to help organize and to design the book. This was a big project, and an immensely enjoyable project. President Packer, a self-described amateur artist, was hesitant to draw any undue attention to himself, but his largely self-taught artistic talents were too good not to share, so his family encouraged the book and he consented to have it published with the intent of using it as a way to teach and testify of his Creator and the beauties of nature that President Packer has admired since his boyhood.
The oversized book was designed and produced with utmost care and quality materials to appropriately showcase the impressive creative work—drawings, paintings, and magnificently detailed wood carvings. Our team conceptualized the design and layout of the book, photographed dozens of objects, and then did all of the layout and production work to prepare the book for press.
